Miami (Ohio) Redhawks (0-5) (MAC)-Northwestern Wildcats (3-2) (Big 10)
WATCH THIS GAME HERE LIVE!These teams have been getting together every few years, the last in 2006 with Northwestern taking a 21-3 win. The Wildcats come in on a 27-21 win at Purdue, while Miami (OH) lost to Cincinnati 37-13 at home.
The Victory Bell remains in the hands of Cincinnati yet another year despite a determined effort from the Redhawks early on, as the Bearcats had way too much talent to overcome.
Miami (OH) has the #34 ranked passing attack and yet are dead last nationally in scoring at 12 point per game. Much of it has to do with facing Kentucky, Boise and Cincinnati and some of it has to do with quarterbacks that don't protect the ball. Zac Dysert (35-49, 291) has put up decent numbers but another two picks brings his TD/INT ratio to 3-6, and combined with former starter Daniel Raudabaugh's 2-5 ratio, the 0-5 start is explainable.
The Redhawks problems don't stop at turnovers, as they have one of the poorer rushing attacks around and were led by Dysert (11-45) in that department as well. In fact, he leads the team in rushing on the year with 188 Yards.
Miami (OH) defense was not able to stop the Bearcats, giving up 439 yards and the Tony Pike to Mardy Gilyard and Armon Binns combo was deadly as usual. Jacob Ramsey (12-103) had a field day on the ground adding three more scores, so Cincy used a number of weapons.
WATCH LIVE NCAA FOOTBALL GAME HERE!Northwestern fell behind Purdue 21-3 in the first the half before staging a big comeback and dominating second half play. The Wildcats are a team that can look good or bad any number of times in the same game.
The Northwestern defense had their hands in the win by forcing five fumbles and one interception while holding the Boilermakers scoreless in the second half and allowing Purdue to control the ball only 24 minutes for the game.
The Redhawks must avoid turnovers if they are to have any realistic chance of keeping this close and that starts with Zac Dysert. If Miami (OH) is to have any success it will be through the air which is where the Redhawks can move the ball but where miscues often happen.
Northwestern needs to play a complete game for 60 minutes and avoid the good play, bad play scenario that plagues them every time they take the field. This is the difference between struggling to a win or a blow out...
