Great rivalry game with plenty of scoring and unpredictability as the last five games have been decided by seven points or less and three decided in overtime. Eastern Michigan comes in having lost at home to Temple 24-12, while Central Michigan continued their winning ways with a 20-13 win at Buffalo.
The cover machine commonly known as Central Michigan has won when they should and also when they shouldn't have although their win over Michigan State could fall under should have depending on whether you ask a Spartans or Chippewas fan.
As Dan LeFevour goes, so goes the CMU offense. LeFevour (22-28, 268) once again showcased his versatility, by showing good accuracy with his arm and running back ability with his legs.
LeFevour (21-98) had his hand in 367-412 of the Chippewas yards and is essentially the offense. Aside from receivers Antonio Brown (6-112) and Bryan Anderson (8-95) CMU doesn't get any production to speak of from anyone else.

Eastern Michigan had a tough row to hoe if everything fell into place, but with QB Andy Schmitt lost for the season to a knee injury they are nothing but spoilers and maybe not even that.
Back up Kyle McMahon (25-36, 230) played well against Temple but the Eagles have problems that run deeper than the quarterback position.
EMU doesn't run the ball well at all and with quarterback issues a running game would take a world of pressure off of McMahon and possibly enable him to be more effective making the Eagles at least a threat with the ball.
Defensively, Eastern Michigan was adequate against Temple but had to play nearly perfect to win with an offense that bogged down consistently and turned the ball over twice. EMU will continue to struggle if that pattern doesn't change.
I don't think the trends mean a whole lot until we see what happens with the EMU quarterback situation even though this rivalry has a history of being rather high scoring and close. LeFevour is going to be a difficult task for Eastern Michigan and without Schmitt this has the potential to be a one sided blow out unless somebody steps up. I don't like this game all that much with one team being shorthanded but I'll take the points realizing that adversity sometimes brings a team together...
