After going to the Rose Bowl in 2007, the Illinois Fighting Illini (5- 7 overall, 3- 5 Big Ten) did not get an invite to any post-season game in 2008. Last year was defined by disappointment as the team went from a 9- 3 regular season record the year before to a 5- 7 mark. This year, it’s expected that the Illini will turn it around and be bowl bound once again..

Michigan State Spartans
In 2008, the Michigan State Spartans (9- 4 overall, 6- 2 Big Ten) came in third in the conference and played the Georgia Bulldogs in the Capital One Bowl, which they lost 12- 24. That was their second straight visit to a bowl game and the team’s second bowl loss in a row. This season, the Spartans have a fine shot at being bowl bound again.
The strength of this team has tended to be on defense and not offense. That will be the case again this season. The offensive line has some solid vets coming back but the right side is suspect.
