Purdue Boilermakers Vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers Game Preview
Two quarterbacks who find the oppostion nearly as much as they find the endzone meet in a Big Ten battle as the Minnesota Golden Gophers host the Purdue Boilermakers.
Minnesota started the season strong but have now lost two of their last three games and desperately need a win if they hope to go bowling again this year. Truth be told, the Gophers seem to beat the teams they are supposed to beat but can't seem to step it up against the better teams. Last year they started fast and went in reverse once the Big Ten schedule started, this season they have simply played the teams in a different order and have drawn a few difficult games early on. Adam Weber and Eric Decker are the combo on this Gopher team and while everyone in the stadium knows who is the main target, it doesn't seem to stop Weber from throwing to him and getting the ball to him. Weber has thrown six interceptions to go with his six touchdowns. Minnesota has played well in pass coverage but both of their losses took place against teams who had a monster day by a running back . Both Cal's Jahvid Best and Wisconsin's John Clay had big days against the the Gophers in winning efforts.

Purdue looks a lot like the team Joe Tiller left behind a year ago which while it has some nice offensive schemes, it was a team with an overall losing record and who hasn't been to a bowl in a while. Purdue has been competitive and has scored a decent amount of points in their games but they just aren't stopping anyone. The Boilermakers have lost four in a row and unless their tackling gets a lot better very quickly, it could be a long season in West Lafayette.
Minnesota is 12-3 against the spread in theor last 15 games againsta team with a losing record but they are just 1-5 against the spread in theor last six home games. Purdue is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games but iare just 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games as a road underdog between three and ten points. The favorite is 8-1-1 against the spread in the last ten meetings between these two and the home team is 3-1-1 against the number in the last five.
I don't think Minnesota are world beaters but I think they are good enough to win this one. Purdue has a lot of building to do before hey are going to win football games in the Big Ten conference.
